December 13, 2017 6:02 pm Published by Leave your thoughts

Each holiday season, we at Jackson’s Greenhouse & Garden Center, Inc. sell fresh-cut Fraser fir Christmas trees at our tree nursery in Topeka, KS. We have a wide variety, ranging in size from 4 to 11 feet in both A and B grade variations––and all grown by the renowned Cartner Christmas Tree Farm.

About the Fraser fir

The Fraser fir is the number one selling Christmas tree in America. It’s probably the Christmas tree you picture when you think about Christmas trees. They’re beloved partly because they do such a good job of retaining their needles, even as they dry, and because of their beautiful silvery blue-green color, especially on the undersides of their branches.

Fraser firs are pleasant and fragrant, sure to fill your home with the smells of Christmas, day after day, night after night.

Fraser firs are fuller-bodied trees than many alternative options. Whereas some people get stuck with trees with lots of gaps and “air,” Fraser firs are thick and lush.

When should you get your tree?

Now’s the time. Usually by the end of the first week of December, or the middle of the second week, businesses that sell Christmas trees have sold so many trees that many of them begin to run out of stock. If you want to have your pick of trees, it’s best to get into the store before then. Now we have a full selection, A and B grades, from 4 to 11 feet in height.

How to decorate your tree

Of course, the most important thing, when it comes to decorating your tree, is to decorate it with your family. Bring out your box of family ornaments, and spend time with your children and grandchildren finding all the best branches for their favorites.

If you’re looking for something a little trendier, the silvery blue-green of the Fraser fir means that sharp violets, blues and shiny silvers look beautiful on the tree, really bringing out the subtleties of its coloring.
